![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() For example, she first made it sound like everyone in town hated her family but then, all of a sudden, they seem to have a multitude of Vermonter friends. I got confused in parts because of seeming contradictions that were never really explained. I especially enjoyed the sections about the quaint country store, raising sheep (she described one lamb as "joy in a wool suit") and the author's many gaffes (the funniest of which happens while she's cleaning a chicken coop.) Her descriptions of the beauty of Vermont made me want to visit (but maybe not live) there, go camping near a pristine lake and count shooting stars.Īside from a few parts where it seemed like the author was exaggerating quite a bit (pretty much all of the incidents caused by her having an "ample backside" for example), I only had one major issue with the book. It was funny, charming and did a wonderful job of painting a picture of the author's life in Vermont - both good and bad. It took a little while to grow on me, but I really liked this book. ![]()
